As a former pool lifeguard, I wholeheartedly support parents not being allowed to take more than one child too young or inexperienced into water. Kids are feckless cretins who will happily throw themselves into a drowning situation, and did so more than once when I was lifeguarding. My old pool set 8 years old as the age at which children could swim unsupervised, and even then you’d be gobsmacked at how little thought weak swimmers would put into jumping in at the deep end.
